…without looking like Pamela Anderson circa 2003…
I don’t know about you, but my Winter just got a whole lot more comfortable with the arrival of my #allblackeverything Ugg boots.
Now, Ugg boots have suffered a bad rap over the years thanks to the likes of denim shorts, hot pink suede and Jessica Simpson where a few unsavoury styling techniques have inevitably landed wearers on the Worst Dressed List.
I’m here to show/ tell you that Ugg boots have a fashionable place in your life (both in AND out of the house) where the below rules and regulations will have you looking chic and, dare I say it, conservative.
1. Stick to Neutrals
Kimmy K got this one right… invest in neutral Uggs (tan, black, khaki, navy) to ensure your overall lewk is more ‘stylish’ than ‘statement’.
2. Save The Bling for Home
Diamante embellishments and bright colours are cute… but leave this kind of cute for inside occasions only. You have been warned!
3. Cover Up
They are a Winter accessory after all! Don’t pair your Uggs with a midriff top, cut off pants or skin-tight dresses. Instead, style an ankle Ugg boot with skinny jeans, leather pants or ponte leggings, which will leave you looking long, lean and delicious!
4. Dress It Up
There is NOTHING better than pairing oversized trackies with Ugg boots BUT, if you are wanting to venture outside, you’ll have to spruce it up to avoid judgemental stares. Think jeans and a blazer; knit dress and tights; military coat and leather leggings. Mix texture and lengths rather than prints and colours to keep your Ugg-look appropriate.
5. Pick Your Occasion
Casual brunch with girlfriends? Yes. Business meetings with the Boss? No. There is always a time and a place for Ugg boots and your local cocktail bar ain’t one of them.
6. Wear With Confidence
Like any controversial fashion item or accessory, confidence is key when pulling off this look so slap on a smile and show the haters how fashion x comfort is really done.
P.S. I picked up my Uggs from Ugg Since 1974 where all boots are manufactured on the Gold Coast.
